New records in passenger transport

The volume of passenger traffic on airlines between Belgrade and Podgorica, i.e. Tivat, reached a new record in the first half of 2023.

According to the specialized portal Exyuaviation.com, the Serbian state airline "Air Serbia" and the Montenegrin national airline "Air Montenegro" are the only two companies that, according to the current international agreement, can fly on these highly profitable lines between Belgrade and two Montenegrin airports. transported a total of 261.556 passengers in the first half of the year, which is even 29 percent more than in the same period last year. This year's performance is even 13,5 percent better than the total passenger traffic on airlines between Belgrade and Podgorica, i.e. Tivat, in the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

Of the total number of passengers transported on these lines in the period from January 1 to June 30, 143.089 of them flew between Belgrade and Podgorica, and 118.467 passengers were on the Belgrade-Tivat route and vice versa. To that should be added a couple of thousand passengers who flew between Montenegro and Serbia on the seasonal airlines "Air Serbia" from Niš and Kraljevo to Tivat, which started operating only in June.

For both "Air Serbia" and "Air Montenegro", the lines between Belgrade, Tivat and Podgorica represent the busiest lines in the total network of destinations served by these carriers, and in terms of the total annual volume of passenger traffic, air traffic between Belgrade and two cities in Montenegro Gori is among the most successful scheduled airlines in Europe.

Until the grounding of the former Montenegrin national airline "Montenegro Airlines" in December 2020, the primacy in the number of flights and transported passengers on this market was held by the Montenegrin company, but that would change drastically from the end of 2020 and now the primacy in the number of flights and "Air Serbia" convincingly holds the number of transported passengers. This will also be the case in the current winter IATA season, which began on October 30 and lasts until March 31, in which "Air Serbia will have 21 flights per week on the Belgrade-Podgorica route, which is one rotation more than at the same time last year. while on the route to Tivat, the planes of the Serbian company will fly 14 times a week, which is also one rotation more than in the winter of 2022.

"Air Montenegro" will have 14 weekly rotations on the Belgrade-Podgorica route, and only seven on the route to Tivat, which in both cases is the same as last year.
