The Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro have a lot of joint projects and, according to their representatives, they are working to further strengthen cooperation on projects and the development of Montenegro.
Line minister Vladimir Martinović met today with the permanent representative of UNDP in Montenegro, Ekaterina Paniklova, with whom he discussed future cooperation and the projects that await them.
Paniklova congratulated Martinović on his appointment, stressing that his experience as a deputy and mayor, along with the experience gained during political engagement, puts him in a unique position to significantly influence the fulfillment of the Ministry's goals.
Martinović thanked UNDP for its support and the trust that that organization has in terms of successful cooperation.
He reminded that he is aware that the Ministry and UNDP have a lot of joint projects and that the Ministry will make efforts to speed up the realization of joint projects, with the aim of Montenegro meeting the obligations from the EU accession process and UN conventions.
"In this sense, projects related to climate change and the fulfillment of reporting obligations to the UN umbrella convention on climate, as well as the establishment of a transparent framework for planning and reporting on climate change issues, will receive special attention and priority," the announcement states.
Bearing this in mind, Martinović stated that the Ministry will make additional efforts to achieve the highest quality and most transparent implementation of projects, and to eliminate all potential delays or obstructions to the successful implementation of projects, so that the Ministry can prove itself as a reliable partner to international partners and the bearer of Montenegro's development.
He stressed the importance of developing the north and using the potential of that region.
Paniklova said that she was pleased with the opportunity to hear more about numerous innovative ideas aimed at environmental protection, sustainable development of tourism and the north, which will positively affect the community and the quality of life of current and future generations.
The interlocutors agreed that the process of joining the EU and fulfilling the obligations from Chapter 27 is a priority, stressing that UNDP will be a reliable partner in that process. They also discussed the upcoming global summit on climate change (COP28), which is being held this year in Dubai, and which, according to their assessment, will be another opportunity for Montenegro to exchange information and experience on processes that enable the reduction of impacts and adaptation to climate change. changes.
"The presence of the Ministry's delegation led by the minister represents an additional confirmation and commitment of the country to climate change issues and represents a significant opportunity for the delegation to present significant results, but also to establish and strengthen climate partnerships at the global level and at the level of E partnerships," the statement said.
Paniklova thanked Martinović for the meaningful meeting, stating that she was looking forward to future opportunities for cooperation, while Martinović thanked her for the constructive and inspiring ideas they exchanged during the meeting.
