The Association of Managers of Montenegro (AMM) is an indispensable partner in the creation of economic policies, and its members are the engine of the Montenegrin economy, said the president of the country, Jakov Milatović.
He spoke at the ceremony marking the anniversary of ten years of AMM work.
Milatović congratulated AMM president Budimir Raičković for his persistence, commitment and effort to elevate the Association to the level of an indispensable partner of institutions that create economic policy in Montenegro.
He pointed out that AMM was founded on sound foundations, bringing people together for their skills and abilities.
"I often repeat that I want to contribute to building a society where only two things are needed for success, how much you know and how much you work. That's why I'm convinced that these are the values and principles that we all share here, and that we should continue our cooperation based on those principles," said Milatović.
He said that he is attending the ceremony in order to show respect to the members of the Association who, as he stated, are the engine of the Montenegrin economy.
"And your leadership, whether you are in a small, micro or large company, your determination to do your best every morning, when you wake up and start the working day, so that the company you work for achieves the best possible result, is the fuel of our economy. "Without your persistence and work, there would be no economic success of Montenegro, which, regardless of the challenging times we live in, is unquestionable," said Milatović.
He added that their persistence, determination and commitment are key to the success of the small Montenegrin economic system.
"You helped us increase the minimum wage, raise the average salary and return to the leading position in the region. It was you, with your work and skill, who helped us to recover after three years from the economic devastation left behind by the pandemic," said Milatović.
As he said, the members of the Association showed great social responsibility and helped the state when their help was most needed.
"Today, as we end one of the most successful years for our economy, celebrating record profits, it is good to remember where we were just three years ago. In 2020, we suffered together, and today we are reaping the fruits together. And that's the economy. That's life. We have each other's backs and, whether we like it or not, our unity is key to the success of our country," said Milatović.
He believes that today Montenegro is at a turning point and that it is taking decisive steps towards a great national goal, not the last, but the key one - to become a full member of the European Union.
"In order to take key steps on this path, we need to push this car of ours once again, together, with all our strength. Because people like you, who every day have to motivate someone to do their job, no matter how hard that job is, sometimes insufficiently paid, and often inadequate for the one doing it," said Milatović.
He emphasized that he is aware that their success is often in the shadow of everyday politics, that sometimes there is a feeling as if politics adds "unnecessary weight in the game in which we are certainly far behind".
Milatović called on managers to persevere, to be persistent, and to fight for a fairer economy and a meritocratic society.
"In that fight, you will have a comrade in me, regardless of political or any other differences. Because only together, only united around a common goal can we move forward and achieve our goals," said Milatović.
He congratulated the Association of Managers on its anniversary, adding that he hopes to see each other again in ten years.
"Maybe we'll change sides, maybe I'll be among you again, but I'm sure we'll still be on the same road, in the same car." And believe me, I couldn't imagine a more beautiful car, a more exciting road, or better companions," concluded Milatović.
