Representatives of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU), Elektroprivreda (EPCG), Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CGES) and Montenegrin Electric Distribution System (CEDIS) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today, with the aim of improving the efficiency of the power system and the application of artificial intelligence in the power industry.
The memorandum foresees that CANU and energy companies will jointly work on scientific research and development projects in the field of energy through cooperation with the ENEKO Center, as a special scientific and research unit of CANU, PR Center reports.
It is also planned to hold joint scientific meetings, round tables and expert discussions in the field of power engineering, publishing publications, as well as cooperation on other matters of common interest.
The president of CANU, Dragan K. Vukčević, said that it is necessary for institutions to network and cooperate with each other.
"The future of development lies in that synergy. Within the framework of CANU, there is the ENEKO center, which we founded relatively long ago, but which did not work too much, and which was formed as a center for energy, ecology and sustainable development. "I am glad that the members of the academy - Vice President Stanković and Academician Đurović, launched the initiative to renovate that center and cooperate with energy companies," stated Vukčević.
He considers it a significant step in the networking of institutions in Montenegro.
"I hope that, based on the Memorandum, we will have round tables, scientific conferences, forums and joint projects. I believe that it can be useful for you and for our institution", said Vukčević.
The President of the EPCG Board of Directors, Milutin Đukanović, assessed the initiative of CANU to sign the Memorandum as significant.
"I feel that you have recognized the importance of energy. I don't want to be subjective, but this sector is the most important for us. That's why this cooperation, when it comes from such a significant address, encourages us to continue working on the projects we started," said Đukanović.
He reminded that during the meeting of energy ministers in the Berlin process, three things were noted that are not good for the countries of the region.
"First of all, it is not a good legal regulation. The second is that the public registers are not in order, and number three is the lack of professional staff. This is the problem we are facing and we expect CANU to help us, and EPCG will be completely open to cooperation," said Đukanović.
The executive director of CGES, Ivan Asanović, announced that he is very pleased that the ENEKO center will be activated again for joint work on development projects.
"I agree that energy is one of the most important economic branches in Montenegro. This is proven by the results achieved every year in the energy sector. We believe that this level of cooperation with CANU is very significant from several levels - from a professional, technical, but also from a promotional level, so that finally the projects we realize are presented to the public in the right way," said Asanović.
He pointed out that one of the missions of CGES is to develop projects in accordance with the most modern principles of environmental protection and ecology, stating that sustainable development is the basis of every development and infrastructure project of that company.
The CEO of CEDIS, Vladimir Čađenović, believes that energy companies desperately need science in their work.
"We saw at the previous meeting that there is a wide space for our cooperation, that we are needed only by others and that we will do it for the benefit of the state and society. I expect that this document will provide the fruits it has, which we need to harvest together, in the shortest possible time," Čađenović concluded.
