All investors, who will operate in accordance with the law, are welcome in Montenegro, announced the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović, and added that he was pleased by the interest of Spanish hoteliers.
At a meeting with the charge d'affaires of the Spanish office in Podgorica, Ambassador Manuel Duran and his associates, the economic adviser of the Spanish Embassy, Jose Lopes Tomás de Carranza and the honorary consul of Spain in Montenegro, Ivana Kovač Barrett, he said that he was pleased with the interest, especially taking the fact that Spain is one of the most desirable tourist destinations.
"I believe that Montenegro also has something to offer the Spaniards and now, from this position, I can say that all investors, who will operate in accordance with the law, are welcome in our country," said Martinović.
He was informed about Spanish hotels and companies in Montenegro, among which are two large hotel chains Iberostar and Eurostar, as well as activities related to future cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting, Spain's support in terms of strengthening economic ties and future projects was also expressed.
Duran said that Spain is a tourist country, just like Montenegro, and that by building a hotel on our coast, they recognized that.
The meeting also discussed the development of the north and the tourist offer of that region, which, according to the interlocutors, can be just as good for investors as the coast.
"We agree that it is necessary to invest in Montenegro, respecting all the recommendations of Brussels and establishing a balance between ecological and economic projects. I hope that Spain's experience will help us on that path," said Martinović.
Apart from hotels, what also interests Spain in cooperation with Montenegro is the environmental infrastructure and everything related to the eco system.
During the conversation, there was talk about the previous report of the European Commission for Montenegro, where Spain's full support was expressed in the aid part of a better next report.
Martinović said that he hopes that Spain, as a member of the European Union (EU), will continue to be Montenegro's partner on its European path.
"Spain's support in the process of your country's accession to the EU is guaranteed," Duran said.
