The Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović, and the Ambassador of Germany in Montenegro, Peter Felten, agree that it is necessary to find an ecologically and economically sustainable solution for the Ulcinj Saltworks with the competent ministries and institutions, and thus contribute to fulfilling the ecological criteria for fast accession to the European Union (EU).
The Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North announced that Martinović met with Felten.
"I am glad that you will lead the delegation of the 44th Government of Montenegro at such an important Conference on Climate Change for further action in that field," Felten said.
Martinović said that participation in COP28 is also important for the progress of Montenegro on its European path.
Martinović will lead the delegation of the Government of Montenegro which, from tomorrow to Monday, will participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) Conference in Dubai.
"During the meeting, all hot topics in Montenegro were discussed, as well as the improvement of the legislative framework in the field of ecology and environmental protection," reads the announcement of the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North.
It is stated that during the conversation it was assessed that it is necessary to find a way to increase the number of German tourists in Montenegro, but also vice versa, and emphasis was also placed on the development of tourism in the north, whose potential is recognized.
"In this regard, Felten noted the important role of national parks, both for environmental protection and ecologically compatible tourism, and in this sense emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Durmitor and Black Forest National Parks," the announcement reads.
"We will build and develop in accordance with ecological standards, which will not affect the development of our country, and I believe that we have Germany as a sincere friend and partner on that path," said Martinović.
