Montenegro and Austria are on a common path in the fight against climate change, it was assessed at the meeting of the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović, and the Austrian Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Leonora Gevesler .
Martinović, who heads the delegation of the Government of Montenegro to the 28th Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Dubai, met with Gevesler on the sidelines of the COP.
"The intention to further deepen the traditionally good relations between the two countries has been confirmed. The presence of official delegations at COP28 confirms the readiness of the countries to implement concrete actions in the direction of fulfilling the goals of the Paris Agreement. Austria recognizes and welcomes the efforts that Montenegro is making in the field of climate change and environmental protection, in order to close Chapter 27," the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development said in a statement.
Martinović, it is added, expressed his satisfaction that Montenegro and Austria share the same goals and values, which the 44th Government placed high on its agenda.
"Austria offered further cooperation and technical and expert assistance, especially in the field of waste management and climate change, emphasizing the importance of software development for the information system of extended producer responsibility. It also indicated the importance of regional cooperation and the projects they carry out with the intention of helping local communities to are adapting or mitigating the risks of climate change," the announcement reads.
It is added that Gevesler invited Martinović to take part in the ministerial conference of the TRATOLOW project, which will be held in Vienna in the spring of next year.
