The Czech Republic supports Montenegro on its European path and offers further cooperation through technical and expert assistance, especially in the area of harmonization of Montenegrin legislation with the legislation of the European Union (EU).
This was announced at a meeting between the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Vladimir Martinović, and the Czech Minister of the Environment, Petr Hladik.
As announced by the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, Martinović and Hladik met on the sidelines of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai.
It is stated that the meeting discussed the deepening of bilateral relations between Montenegro and the Czech Republic, primarily in the areas of ecology, waste management, climate change, but also sustainable development, tourism development and attracting Czech investors.
"The Czech Republic expressed its support for Montenegro on the European path and offered further cooperation through technical and expert assistance, especially in the area of harmonizing Montenegrin legislation with EU legislation, through the engagement of Czech experts for specific areas," the statement said.
Hladik, as stated, highlighted the experience they have in the field of mitigating and remediating harmful effects on the environment and suggested engaging Czech experts in order to organize training and educational workshops in Montenegro.
Martinović thanked the Czech Republic for its support, adding that the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development is open to cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, especially considering that Montenegro is facing the closure of Chapter 27 and that the Government is strongly committed to the process EU integration.
"Further activities have been agreed in terms of signing a memorandum on cooperation in the field of the environment, as well as in the field of tourism," the announcement states.
