Goran Đurović, Vice President of the Citizens' Movement URA, assessed that the announcement that the Government will increase the VAT for caterers to 21 percent, from the current 7 percent, is another bad move in the series.
"Restaurants, despite the record season, are still feeling the consequences of the corona crisis. VAT of 7 percent allowed them to accumulate more funds in order to recover from the corona crisis and improve the level of service, and therefore contribute to an even greater quality of our tourist offer. We are aware that the promises made by Milojko Spajić and his party are unrealistic and must be covered by some levies, starting from smaller revenues that go to the municipalities and all the way to larger levies on the main economic branch," said Đurović.
He added that the URA will be against the levy and increase of VAT on caterers to 21 percent and that the state must be even more stimulating towards the tourism industry, and not "create barriers".
