As a NATO member and signatory to the CEFTA and EFTA agreements, Montenegro is a safe and open country for foreign investors, said the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj.
At the Podgorica Investment Forum, he pointed out that Montenegro has an efficient, transparent and competitive tax system, with a reformed banking system with equal treatment of domestic and foreign investors.
As he stated, Montenegro has the euro as its official currency and a liberalized foreign trade system, which makes it a competitive and attractive investment destination.
"The Government of Montenegro strives to improve the business environment and strengthen the competitiveness of the economy through numerous legal solutions, initiatives and programs," said Đeljošaj.
He informed the participants about the platform of the Council for Competitiveness, which, as he emphasized, will contribute to greater competitiveness of the economy and faster economic growth of the country.
As announced by the Government, Đeljošaj announced that the creation of an Action Plan for the removal of barriers is planned, which will be part of the reform agenda in connection with the New Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.
He said that Montenegro is determined to fulfill all necessary steps and participate in all regional initiatives aimed at getting closer to the market and joining the EU.
The Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, Janko Odović, said that planning documents must be a statement of comprehensive sectoral planning for the use of space and protection of basic values and resources, while respecting Montenegro's strategic commitment to rationally and sustainably use its natural and built resources.
As he said, changes in the legal regulations and procedures on the construction of buildings will create conditions for improving the investment environment in Montenegro.
Odović said that the priority of the Ministry he leads is the revision of data in the real estate cadastre database and its full digitization and better accessibility to citizens and investors.
"By combining the aforementioned goals, with absolute respect for the rule of law, we will create conditions so that all building permits can be obtained within 36 hours," Odović said.
