Radio Free Europe (RSE) announced yesterday that, according to official statistics, food prices in Montenegro have risen by 43 percent in the last three years.

Along with the increase in food prices, the earnings of four of the five large retail chains also increased manifold: Voli, HD Laković, Idea-Franca and Aroma.

According to RSE, the owners of four chains earned 20 million euros last year alone.

In Montenegro, according to the law of 2006, market prices are freely formed.

The German ambassador to Montenegro, Peter Felten, said in today's interview with "Vijesta" that the retail chain Lidl wants to open its grocery stores throughout the country as soon as possible.
