In the coming period, Montenegro will implement capital infrastructure projects in energy and transport, announced the Minister of Energy and Mining Saša Mujović at a meeting with representatives of Safin Handelsges, who expressed interest in Željezara Nikšić.
As announced by the relevant Ministry, it is a company with a 30-year tradition.
Mujović, with regard to the intensive infrastructure projects that will be implemented in the next five years, stated that the task and ambition of the Government is to make maximum use of domestic resources and products, recognizing in this an opportunity for the development of domestic production capacities, especially in the field of steel and stone production , cement.
For these processes, as he emphasized, it is important for the government to have serious and reputable partners.
"Zeljezara Nikšić is one of the symbols of Montenegro, a large company with significant results in the former Yugoslavia and with products whose quality is still recognized and appreciated today. Aware of the advantages and disadvantages, inadequate investment in equipment and facilities in the last decade, I still believe that geopolitical the situation and trends in the steel market are in favor", Mujović pointed out and added that with a credible partner there is no doubt that this company has a future.
Mujović particularly pointed out that the willingness to work and the maximum engagement of workers to start the production process is an additional asset, which is extremely important for the future strategic partner in the Nikšić Ironworks.
The representatives of the company presented to Mujović their view of the future business of Željezara and emphasized that they had already visited the company and the facilities and that they had a clear picture of the potentials, but also the shortcomings.
"Having in mind the long business tradition that this company has in the steel market, as well as stable operations and liquidity, they pointed out that they see a potentially good business opportunity and that they will definitely submit a letter of intent and their proposal for a future partnership," the announcement states.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Željezara workers, who, through a conversation with the company's representatives, expressed their willingness to employ all their capacities and contribute to the "healing" of the company.
Mujović's meeting with the representatives of the company Safin Handelsges is a continuation of intensive activities to find a strategic partner for the company from Nikšić.
Mujović's goal is for as many companies from this field as possible to become familiar with the potential of the Željezara, in order to, in a transparent and competitive process, put into operation as many capacities as possible that the Željezara can offer.
"Minister Mujović's diplomatic activity in the promotion of the public call for the lease of the Steel Plant and the Forge, which was announced by the Electric Power Company (EPCG), led to a large response from interested investors," the Ministry concluded.
