The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management creates, as announced, a legal environment and leads an incentive policy regarding the purchase of products, but the key role in commercial transactions is played by manufacturers, retail chains and distributors.
However, the Ministry will support the animation of sales chains, in order to buy and sell domestic products as much as possible.
The responsible minister, Vladimir Joković, state secretary Krsto Radjenović and the head of the Directorate for Livestock Production, Ranko Bogavac, spoke with the agricultural producers of Malaysia in the Tuzi Municipality building. The aim of the meeting was to provide a direct opportunity for farmers to ask questions and receive answers from representatives of the Ministry.
At the meeting, it was announced that the Ministry is open to cooperation with local self-governments, especially in relation to infrastructural issues in rural areas.
The meeting discussed a number of issues that are of interest to farmers, such as the placement of vegetable production, especially watermelons, potatoes and tomatoes, the abolition of excise duty on fuel, compensation for damage to the livestock fund, regulation of water supply on large farms, and cooperation with local self-government. .
Joković emphasized the importance and need for increasing domestic production and the need for timely planting and harvesting, in order to avoid supply pressure for a short period of time.
The ratio of import and export is, as announced, at an unsatisfactory level, from which it follows that there is a market for these products and room for increasing the volume of production, where it is particularly important to take care of the continuity of supply and the demands of the market in Montenegro.
The need for harmonizing legislative and agro-budgetary measures with EU standards, with a focus on improving quality, increasing yields and developing control mechanisms in order to achieve competitive and profitable agricultural production, was particularly highlighted.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management remains open to any type of cooperation with representatives of local self-governments and especially agricultural producers, on a common task in the development of Montenegrin agriculture.
