Part of the former workers of the mining and metal sector, who gathered this morning in front of the Government building because they cannot yet retire due to the unpaid missing benefits, were received for an interview by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Political System, Justice and Anti-corruption, Momo Koprivica.
This was confirmed to "Vijesta" by the employee's representative Željko Peruničić.
He emphasized that Koprivica presented their demands and problems, and asked them to find a solution together. As Peruničić claims, Koprivica will contact the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare on their behalf, and schedule a new meeting with the workers for tomorrow. He added that the Ministry of Economic Development will be involved in solving their problem from Friday.
After the conversation with Koprivica, those gathered in front of the Government dispersed.
A group of former workers of this sector, 50 of them, cannot yet retire because two months after the adoption of the necessary laws, they have not yet been paid their missing benefits. With these laws, they can retire with 25 years of service or at least 15 years spent on the job, for which service is counted with increased duration.
Norms that facilitated retirement were previously used when workers of KAP, Željezara, Bauxite Mine, Metalac remained due to the closure of the company or production... Similar legal solutions were in force in the past years, when they were used by about six thousands of workers, but then this last group could not use them.
The workers came to the Government this morning and demanded a meeting with the Prime Minister's Cabinet Chief Branko Krvavac and the Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Internal Policy, European and Foreign Affairs Aleks Bečić. Peruničić said that Krvavac and Bečić are familiar with the problem in which the workers are, so they want to find a solution.
Peruničić previously clarified that l. was adopted for these workersex specialis at the end of 2023, but that the law is of limited duration, which is why they want to speed up the necessary procedures.
"The only thing left for us is to get together and try to talk. I think it only takes five minutes of good will and conversation to solve the problem and for these people to valorize what they have earned and realize their right," said Peruničić.
Former workers of the mining and metal sector gathered for the same reason last week in front of the building of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, but the line minister Naida Nišić did not receive them.
In addition to this group of workers, former employees of "Radoj Dakić" were also in front of the Government today.
