The Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro conducted a study regarding the quality of raw cow's milk in cooperation with three renowned dairies in Montenegro, the organization announced.
They addressed the public regarding the text "Raw cow's milk in Montenegro has six times more bacteria than is allowed in the EU - far from the standard" Center for Investigative Journalism of Montenegro (CIN-CG), which they say has caused concern among citizens.
They pointed out that all the obtained data are in accordance with European Union (EU) standards, ensuring, as they state, a high level of quality and safety of Montenegrin milk products.
"We understand that it is important to preserve the trust of consumers and we want to share relevant information in order to shed light on this topic," added the statement, which was signed by the president of the Agricultural Cluster, Boško Miličić.
In the Miličić dairy, the total amount of purchased milk was 375.182 liters, and 96,45 percent of the purchased amount met the standard. The average number of bacteria is less than 100.000, while the average number of somatic cells is less than 400.000.
In dairy Nika, the average amount of bacteria was 33.459.8, and the average amount of somatic cells was 54.606.4.
In the Lazine dairy, the average amount of bacteria was 81.981.6, while the average amount of somatic cells was 88.824.8.
"In this way, we would like to highlight our commitment to preserving the safety of consumers and the quality of domestic products. We invite all media actors and researchers to think carefully before publishing information that could affect the public and create distrust among our fellow citizens regarding the quality of domestic products. We hope that this information should contribute to the understanding of the situation and strengthen citizens' confidence in domestic milk products," the announcement concludes.
