Today is the only day of the year when "Vijesti" deliberately tries to deceive its readers and fellow journalists.
It was not difficult this year either, for the simple reason that people trust us, because on all other days we try our best to write what is true, in accordance with the standards and ethics of the journalistic profession.
When our "stories" on this date are focused on by ministers, like Siniša Malog on today's article "Bosnia and Serbia are rewriting the Europe now program", or Ivan Brajović on "Ceca is one step closer to Montenegrin citizenship", of course party megaphones in the media and social networks, even serious media, is just a sign of our enormous influence and credibility.
On other days, we nurture a healthy suspicion towards everything, especially towards what politicians and other masters of manipulation say.
For now, it is the only day when we treat the promises about the "Europe" Program as a sure thing. It will be like this until we find out, and with us and our readers, how the Government plans to achieve it and whether it is sustainable or no.
Even today, it was shown how unprofessional some media are, especially Vučić's, because they conveyed the angry reaction of the Minister of Finance, and their readers and viewers have no idea what "Vijesti" wrote in the April Fool's article, unless they made an extra effort and visited vijesti.me . It is not only a matter of lack of basic media literacy and mandatory journalistic due diligence, but also of great irresponsibility towards the profession. To them, every day is April 1st.
We recommend all our readers not to blindly believe everything they read on social networks and in the media, including ours, but to check the facts themselves, and based on that they get an impression of the credibility of what they read. We know what a soul is in today's age, when we are bombarded with misinformation from all sides, when the truth is no longer the truth, but only what suits us, but it must be done, in order to make the right decisions about anything.
It is especially important that they always first check who wrote what they are reading, and especially that they are suspicious of unsigned texts. In the name of our "author" Pr.A., one of ten of them who work only once a year - P. Travanj is among them - there is a hint that it is an April Fool's joke.
We congratulate our readers who have "understood" what it is all about, and those who haven't, especially in Serbia and BiH, don't be angry if they were hoping for quick higher salaries and pensions, because today is a day for jokes. From tomorrow, everything as before, as far as we are concerned.
