The Minister of Energy and Mining, Saša Mujović, and the President of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU), Dragan K. Vukčević, signed the Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions today.
Mujović said that in the energy sector there are a large number of open issues and opportunities for their cooperation.
"I will be very specific and request from the very beginning of our cooperation that representatives of CANU be involved in various projects, among others, to resolve the issue of Bileć Lake and the valorization of its potential, that CANU members and those members you delegate be in to the composition of the working commissions, to help us solve the issue of energy transition in Montenegro in the right, fair and just way, to see how we can use our potential in terms of ores and minerals in the best possible way", said Mujović after the signing.
He stated that, starting from the fact that energy is a great development opportunity for Montenegro and that, aware of the importance of energy and the energy sector, the Ministry of Energy and Mining strives and will strive to valorize energy potential as soon as possible and turn it into tangible capital for all citizens of Montenegro.
"In order to reach that goal, we must be together, we must be grouped, collected and use knowledge, and there is no doubt that the greatest knowledge and experience resides precisely at the address of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts." I'm not a supporter of self-love, but I also don't like it and I'm not happy when we first turn to international addresses for some important opinions and consider that somewhere else there are people who are more qualified, who think better of Montenegro, than those most recognized and wisest heads who are certainly concentrated in CAN", said Mujović.
He stated that he wants them to stop this practice and wants them to solve numerous problems in the energy sector on a partnership basis, by seeking the first ally and first advice at this address, at this instance.
The institution within CANU that deals directly with these issues is the ENEKO Center for Energy and Ecology, managed by academician Igor Đurović.
According to Vukčević, that institution is in charge of energy, ecology, sustainable development and projects in those areas. As it has now begun, in cooperation with important institutions from these fields in Montenegro, her work promises good results.
"I am glad that today we signed an agreement between the Ministry of Energy and Mining and the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. I am glad that this is another in a series of agreements that CANU has signed with institutions in Montenegro in the fields of science, art and politics, and I can say with pleasure that we considered the previous agreements a good basis for improving cooperation with those institutions," said Vukčević. . He stated that he was pleased that Mujović recognized the possibilities of cooperation between the department he manages and CANU on numerous topics related to this sensitive and complex area.
"I believe that today's agreement will be a good basis for improving the cooperation of our institutions, in terms of round tables, forums, in terms of joint publications, in terms of joint performances in the application of projects in this area", said Vukčević, thanking Minister Mujović for recognizing the partnership and opportunities for cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and Mining and CANU.
The signing of the Agreement is a further step in concretizing the cooperation that was agreed during the recently held meeting of Minister Mujović with representatives of CANU and the Center for Energy and Ecology ENEKO.
"Proceeding from common interests for the improvement of cooperation in the field of energy and ecology, as key factors for sustainability and environmental protection in accordance with the needs of the development of Montenegro", it is emphasized in the preamble of the Agreement, which implies permanent cooperation in the implementation of activities for the sustainable use of natural resources, energy efficiency, ecology, nature conservation and environmental protection, development of advanced technologies and use of renewable energy sources, regulatory measures, holding of scientific meetings, round tables, tribunes and creation of publications.
As stipulated in the Agreement, the Coordination Committee will be composed of four members, two of whom are appointed by CANU and the Ministry of Energy and Mining, will monitor the implementation of activities and periodically inform the signatories.
The signing of the Agreement was also attended by Academician Ljubiša Stanković who is the Vice President of CANU, Academician Igor Đurović who is the head of the ENEKO Center, Academician Predrag Miranović who is the Secretary of the Department of Natural Sciences, Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Mining Vesna Brajović, Head of CANU Service Novak Vukadinović, and independent advisor in the ENEKO Center Snežana Dragićević.
