Montenegro wants a strong infrastructural flywheel and better connection with its neighbors and partners, said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Nik Đeljošaj at a meeting with the Minister of Labor and Economy of Austria, Martin Koher.
The Ministry of Economic Development announced that the meeting discussed the further improvement of cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy and assessed that frequent contacts at the highest political level represent an excellent starting point for improving cooperation in all areas.
As they stated, Đeljošaj presented the plan for the development of transport infrastructure until 2030 and emphasized the importance of highway construction, which will connect Montenegro even more strongly to Austria and Europe.
“Too much time has been wasted. No more waiting. We want a strong infrastructural flywheel and better connection with our neighbors and partners", said Đeljošaj.
As it was announced, he also introduced Koher to investment opportunities and the potential that Montenegro has in the fields of energy and tourism, which, as he pointed out, have strong development potential.
At the meeting, it was assessed that Koher's visit represents an incentive for the further development of economic cooperation, especially in the area of growth of foreign direct investments, tourism, air availability, road infrastructure.
The interlocutors agreed that today's visit represents a strong incentive and support for Montenegro on its path to membership in the European Union (EU).
Koher said that he wants to see Montenegro as the 28th member of the EU.
The Ministry said that at the meeting Đeljošaj initiated the signing of a new Agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, as well as a memorandum on cooperation in the field of economy, considering that the existing one was signed back in 2001, which Koher supported.
"On this occasion, it was announced that the intensive dialogue will continue in the coming period," the announcement states.
