Official statistics are of crucial importance for the adoption of adequate policies that will deliver effective results, and that is why continuous work must be done to improve them, it was said at the meeting of the Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, Dr. Irene Radović, the Director of the Directorate of Statistics, Miroslav Pejović, and the Head of the Secretariat of the Council for Competitiveness, Marija Šuković. , it is stated in the statement of the CBCG submitted to the media.
As further stated, the interlocutors pointed out the importance of statistics, stressing that its important task is to provide a realistic picture of economic trends in the country and provide a reliable basis for making targeted decisions in the direction of improving the growth and development of the Montenegrin economy.
"The important role of official statistics and their producers - the Directorate for Statistics, CBCG and other competent authorities is apostrophized from the point of view of the negotiation process in the context of the intensification of the process of accession of Montenegro to the European Union through the production of statistics that are internationally comparable and methodologically harmonized with the member countries.
In order to fulfill the recommendations for the further strengthening and development of the system of official statistics in Montenegro, at the meeting it was agreed on the synergistic performance of all its producers and the intensification of cooperation on improving the quality and up-to-dateness of data, further standardization and improvement of the process of organizing the collection, processing and dissemination of data. in the statement.
According to reports, Governor Radović pointed out that the CBCG, through its role in the negotiation process and from the position of regulator of the banking system, will make a full contribution to the further development of official statistics and the fulfillment of obligations towards the European Commission in this matter.
"The meeting also discussed the WE Finance Code project, which will be implemented in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The project is aimed at the financial inclusion of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises owned and managed by women and improving their access to sources of financing In order to provide timely conditions for the implementation of the mentioned project, it was agreed at the meeting to intensify the cooperation between the CBCG, the Directorate for Statistics and the Council for Competitiveness.
The meeting also discussed the Draft Law on Business Companies, which is currently under public debate, and which will transpose the provisions of the EU Directive on the participation of the underrepresented gender in the boards of directors of large private and public companies. This will contribute to the implementation of ESG standards and the expansion of opportunities for the placement of products and services of Montenegrin companies on the European market," concludes the CBCG announcement.
