A strategic partnership with the United Kingdom (UK) could be crucial for the efficient construction of key infrastructure and the development of the economy in Montenegro, it was announced at the meeting between the Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and the Executive Director of the UK Funding Agency (UKEF) and Export Insurance Tim Rid.

As announced by the Government, Spajić and Reed discussed investments in road and railway infrastructure, and the possibility of the presence of companies from the UK from the initial stages - participation in tenders for conceptual projects and conceptual solutions - was emphasized.

"UKEF's 100-year experience in supporting British companies in the global expansion of business, but also in expert support to countries, is significant for numerous projects that the Government of Montenegro plans to implement in the coming period," the announcement states.

It is added that there is room for cooperation in efforts to fully valorize the potential of the Port of Bar, but also in the development of the energy sector.

The Government said that Spajić and Rid pointed out the participation of UKEF in the agreement on the EUR 250 million construction project of one of the largest solar parks in the world - Kaljon Karapinar Solar Park in Turkey.

As reported, Spajić and Reed also discussed arbitration reforms.

"And the possibility of expert and financial assistance from the United Kingdom in that area was highlighted," the statement said.

As it was concluded at the meeting, this could be the right message to investors that it is safe to invest in Montenegro.

As stated in the Government announcement, the meeting was also attended by the British Ambassador to Montenegro, Dawn McCann.
