The government's clear position is to start and implement important infrastructure projects by 2030, including a high-speed road along the Montenegrin coast, which will also include a bypass around Herceg Novi, announced the relevant minister, Filip Radulović.
As announced by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, he met with the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Stevan Katic, with whom he discussed current but long-term traffic projects, which will solve traffic jams in that coastal municipality.
"When we talk about crowds during the season, I must mention that we are working intensively on establishing an international maritime line that will connect Budva and Dubrovnik in the summer tourist season, which will greatly relieve the border crossing between Montenegro and Croatia," said Radulović.
He reiterated that the Ministry invests significant financial resources in the development of road infrastructure through the construction of new and reconstruction of existing roads, with the aim of better traffic connections and reducing congestion.
Radulović also stated that he expects that at the repeated public call of Monteputo, a designer will be selected for the preparation of the conceptual solution for crossing the Bay of Kotor and that this multi-decade problem will be successfully solved with a modern traffic connection across the sea.
"What I want to emphasize is that from the perspective of the competence of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, all the prescribed conditions for the declaration of the port of Lazure in Meljine as a port of nautical tourism-marina have been met," pointed out Radulović.
Katic announced that the process of projecting the route of the local bypass is underway, and the conceptual solution for the continuation of that bypass is also being worked on.
Both projects are very important, considering that the first phase goes from Sutorina to Zelenika, and the continuation of the bypass to Morinje, which will significantly reduce the mileage when coming from Kotor, that is, when going to Kotor or Nikšić.
"I hope that we will have the start of the works already next year and that in this way at least part of the problem when it comes to traffic through Herceg Novi will be relieved and solved," said Katic.
As he pointed out, the topic related to the port in Zelenica was also in focus, for which the procedure of obtaining a permit for the docking of cruise ships was initiated several years ago.
"There is a great interest from numerous companies and businessmen in Boka to enable the berthing of cruise ships in the port of Zelenica, and I believe that it will be possible for the next season," Katic concluded.
