Ivan Vujović, the representative of the Nikšić Željezara workers, hopes that the new investor will be better than the previous ones and points out that it is up to the workers to work, and it is up to the Government and the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) to make decisions.
"As far as the workers are concerned, we do not want to interfere in that process. That process should be led by the state and Elektroprivreda. It is up to us to wait for the decision they will make and to work on the existing jobs we have. As for the production process at the Steel Plant and Kovacnica is absolutely ready to respond to that part of the work, but what is very important to say is that we expect that this new investor will not be like the previous ones, because we all know very well that from those previous investors, Željezara remained in the red, the state remained in in the red, and the workers stayed on the street," Vujović told reporters today in front of Željezara.
The board of directors of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore AD Nikšić (EPCG) adopted yesterday the proposal of the offer of the Swiss company "8B Capital SA", which was given in the form of a draft agreement on the lease of the production capacities of EPCG Željezara Nikšić, on the Kovačnica and Čeličana plants.
"The adopted draft of the contract will be sent to the Government of Montenegro for further action in order to make a statement at the Shareholders' Assembly. The contract on the lease of the production capacities of EPCG Željezara Nikšić should be concluded after the statement of the Government of Montenegro on the acceptance of the terms of the offer and the decision of the Shareholders' Assembly on giving consent to the conclusion of this act," EPCG announced officially.
"Vijesti" announced yesterday, referring to unofficial sources, that the EPCG Board of Directors adopted the proposal of the offer made by the Swiss company.
The executive director of EPCG Željezara Nikšić, Nevenka Janković, who since taking office did not want to make statements to journalists, waiting for, as she said, the situation in that factory to settle, this morning invited journalists to, as her PR department said, give a short statement about accepting the offer, only to withdraw her statement after 20 minutes due to "sudden obligations".
She didn't even allow the journalists to enter the perimeter of the factory where the gathered workers were waiting for them, which annoyed both Vujović and the employees.
"What you experienced here is definitely more than a shame. You were invited by the foreign executive director to give you a statement, but at the last minute it was canceled. Not only that, but she also banned you from entering the factory. Apparently we are going back in time the Turkish owner, because she took over their work methods. What is very important to point out is that the workers of Željezara are still working, that it is an incredible work that they have shown in the last month and that they want to work Željezara workers are able to work, but the problem is that we have an incompetent executive director. She is absolutely unable to provide anything without Elektroprivreda, and here she is not even able to provide the April earnings for the workers. Let Elektroprivreda lead "Zeljezar," said Vujović.
