Today, the citizens of Mojkovac, supported by the Minister of Energy and Mining Saša Mujović and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, won for the well-being and safety of their families, for the right to a healthy life. The government made the final decision to terminate the contract with the company "Brskovo Mine". This decision comes after more than a year of bitter complaints by citizens.
Thus, the citizens' initiative "Zdravi Mojkovac" comments on the Government's decision to terminate the contract with the company "Tara resources".
"We congratulate the people of Mojkovic, as well as Prime Minister Spajić and Minister Mujović, for their perseverance and courage to resist the pressures, which there were, the vision that not everything in the state is for sale and processing - no matter how much money it brings, and for being open to the citizens, what they heard, listened to and respected and in the end did everything according to the law and the will of the citizens, not their will and the wishes of foreigners, as all the previous governments did. The local community showed enormous strength and extremely high awareness valleys' that were placed by the company and their helpers, both from the previous and the current government. This is a victory of knowledge over ignorance, of good over bad intentions, of the common good over the interest of a small number of persons. The company did not submit a corrected Feasibility Study, which exposed their own falsehoods, which they marketed day and night, about 'ecological standards and the ecological mine.'9 This only confirmed that we were right and on the side of the law from the beginning. GI Zdravi Mojkovac, during the public hearing for the Draft Spatial Plan of Montenegro until 2030, made numerous remarks, among which she demanded that all sentences related to this harmful and corrupt contract be removed from the Draft. Given that the contract was terminated today, we publicly call on the planners to take the objections into account and remove everything related to mining activities in Brskovo from the Plan, because the decision was made at the state level," the announcement states.
"To those who met with the management of the company, allowed themselves to have foreigners pay for their dinners, allowed themselves to endanger the people they come from and destroy their homeland due to their ignorance or greed, we say that those dinners have passed and they remain to live among us This victory is just the beginning. The battle for justice and transparency continues, so we call on the authorities to investigate all the possible corrupt actions of the previous signatories of the contract and its annexes. The termination of the contract is an example of how the state and political leaders should treat their citizens - with respect , responsibility, transparency. Good luck in the further fight for justice and a better tomorrow! Mojkovac will be healthy," the statement concluded.
