The branch collective agreement (GKU) for maritime transport, port-transshipment services and ports of nautical tourism was concluded today after a long process of negotiations between social partners.

At the meeting, which was held on the premises of the UPCG, the GKU was signed by the President of the Union of Employers (UPCG), Slobodan Mikavica, and the President of the Independent Trade Union of Maritime Shipping and Transport Workers of Montenegro, Agim Mila.

Mikavica said that he can point out with satisfaction that the representative organizations of employees and employers have reached this joint text, the solutions of which have achieved a high degree of compromise.

"In front of the UPCG, the representatives of the companies Luka Bar, Barska plovidba, Port of Adria and Ocean Montenegro made a special contribution to all of this," stated Mikavica.

Mila said that he is satisfied that he will have the opportunity to, after the conclusion of the branch collective agreement for seafarers, also conclude the branch collective agreement for maritime traffic, port-transshipment services and ports of nautical tourism.

He added that he expects smooth implementation of the contract and hopes that it will contribute to improving the rights of employees, especially those who do not have a collective agreement with their employer.

Mila thanked the representatives of the Union of Employers and the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs for their constructive cooperation, as well as the union negotiators for their effort and patience.

The GKU concluded today applies to employers who perform the activity of maritime transport, port-transshipment services and ports of nautical tourism.

With this GKU, the complexity coefficients have been increased compared to the General Collective Agreement (OKU).

"It provides compensation for the birth of a child, a defined amount of compensation for transportation costs for arriving at work, while on the other hand it is stipulated that the employer will not be obliged to apply the provisions on solidarity benefits and increased severance pay if he had a negative business in the previous year," it is stated. in the announcement.

Also, the possibility is provided that at the employer's level, a wage supplement can be determined if the amount of the minimum wage leads to the equalization of wages, in order to comply with the principle of ranking wages, according to the complexity of the work.

The signatories concluded that this mechanism will be useful to employers until the moment of harmonization of collective agreements in the part of salary elements at the company level. A deadline of six months was given for harmonizing collective agreements and employer acts with this GKU.

As a reminder, the previous GKU for maritime transport was repealed in 2018 by the Decision of the Constitutional Court, since the regulation at that time was not harmonized with the provisions of the Labor Law.

Today's signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, trade unions and employers.
