The Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro (IRF) and the Embassy of Turkey are committed to improving economic relations between the two countries, their representatives announced.
The Executive Director of the IRF, Nikola Tripković, met today with the Ambassador of Turkey to Montenegro, Bariša Kalkavan.
At the meeting, IRF's support for the implementation of quality and sustainable projects in Montenegro was highlighted.
Tripković recalled the development path of the institution and emphasized the commitment to achieving strategic goals that are aligned with state development priorities, with an emphasis on the transformation of the IRF into a Montenegrin development bank.
Tripković presented to Kalkavan the importance of IRF's investment support for strategic projects, as well as projects that improve the competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized businesses and contribute to the preservation of existing and the creation of new jobs.
"The initiatives and projects supported by the Embassy of Turkey in Montenegro were discussed, including cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, health, education and development of Montenegro as a regional business center," the IRF press release states.
Kalkavan expressed satisfaction with today's meeting, stressing that his country's relations with Montenegro are outstanding.
He also presented the activities of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro - TurkCham Montenegro, which provides a platform for connecting Turkish companies operating in Montenegro, as well as for Montenegrin companies cooperating with Turkey, emphasizing that as such it represents a service for improving economic cooperation between the two countries .
At the meeting, it was concluded that the data on the foreign trade of goods between Montenegro and Turkey last year, which amounted to over 204 million EUR, represent a significant economic factor.
According to official data, most foreign companies in Montenegro are owned by Turkish citizens, more precisely 3,77 thousand Turkish companies.
