Montenegro has made significant progress in the field of civil aviation, such as the introduction of free route airspace and datalink services, it was assessed at the meeting in Brussels.
Director of the Civil Aviation Agency (ACV) Ivan Šćekić and Director General of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) Raul Medina Caballero discussed several important topics in this area in Brussels.
"The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the current situation and the development of air traffic, as well as on the strengthening of successful cooperation between the Montenegrin Agency and one of the most important organizations," the CAA press release states.
Medina Caballero congratulated Montenegro on the election of the ACV director, with a joint assessment of the country's significant progress in the field of civil aviation, such as the introduction of Free Route Airspace and datalink services.
He thanked for the active participation of Montenegro in all fields within the development of the air navigation system in its area and beyond.
Šćekić pointed to the results of numerous international controls that measured the performance of the Agency, as well as confirmed the successful application of European standards in civil aviation.
He emphasized the importance of supporting EUROCONTROL, of which Montenegro has been a full member since July 2007, to the Agency's activities on improving civil aviation and strengthening the air navigation safety system.
A regular session of the Interim Council of EUROCONTROL is also held in Brussels, which is attended by the director of the Montenegrin Civil Aviation Agency with the associate for international cooperation, Marijana Vukčević.
The topic is ensuring the efficiency of air traffic during the summer through timely planning and coordination, which all actors in aviation are encouraged to do.
The focus was on solving the challenges caused by military activities, major sporting events such as the European Football Championship EURO 2024 and the Olympic Games, as well as adequate management of adverse weather conditions, in order to reduce disruptions in the traffic network.
