The Ministry of Energy and Mining is determined and very concrete in its contribution to the economic strengthening of Montenegro, announced the Ministry of Energy and Mining.

They said that after the payment of compensation to the Municipality of Nikšić for the flooded land for Bilećko Lake, for the current and future period, Saša Mujović, the Minister of Energy and Mining, will meet on Monday in Podgorica with the director of Elektroprivreda Republika Srpska (ERS), Luka Petrović.

It is stated that the purpose of the meeting was to determine the debt for the previous 30 years, as the Municipality of Nikšić did not receive income on that basis and to define the dynamics and modality of payment.

"The issue of Lake Bileć is a complex issue that has not been resolved for decades, and Mujović's intention is to resolve all disputed points in phases and within the framework of the best scenarios for Montenegro, in accordance with laws and international practice," said the Ministry.

As it is added, along with Bilećki Lake, Mujović, together with the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Naida Nišić, is working on finding an optimal solution to another inherited problem related to the former workers of the Bauxite Mine.

It is recalled that due to unrelated seniority and outstanding debts, the workers blocked the entrance to the mining pit and are preventing the operation of three liquid Montenegrin companies.

The announcement also states that Mujović is leading an intensive activity to ensure the sustainable future of Željezara Nikišić, so the arrival of a high-level delegation from the renowned company Duferco and a meeting with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić is expected already on Thursday.

"Employees at Željezara and their future will be in special focus, as well as the perspective for starting new plants at Željezara and opening the possibility of hiring additional workforce", said the Ministry.

They said that proof that the international activities of Minister Mujović bore fruit is the letter of intent sent by the Norwegian company NTE Energy, which is the primary producer of renewable energy in northern Norway.

The company is said to operate 19 wholly-owned hydroelectric plants and several partially-owned plants, contributing to a total production of 4.100 GWh.

The intention of NTE Energy, it is added, is to invest in renewable sources in Montenegro in order to, as they stated, encourage economic growth and position Montenegro as a responsible global player in the transition to clean energy.

It is stated that their plans refer to the potential of water, wind and sun and, as they emphasized, the projects will adhere to rigorous environmental standards and serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge between Norway and Montenegro.

"The Ministry of Energy and Mining is strongly committed to the prosperity of Montenegro and the creation of an environment that will contribute to the economic empowerment of citizens," the announcement said.
