Podgorica is the host of this year's working meeting of the top aviation authorities, because this week the meeting of the Joint Committee of the ECAA agreement is being held, the Civil Aviation Agency (ACV) announced.
"Montenegro is one of the signatories of the ECAA - the Multilateral Agreement on the Creation of a Common European Aviation Area, and the Joint Committee is the body responsible for its implementation and ensuring its proper application," the announcement states.
The European Commission (EC) and CAA are co-organizers of the third meeting of this important committee on Wednesday and Thursday.
"The agreement represents an important element in the process of enlargement of the European Union (EU), and it is also considered a powerful tool for the economic development of countries," the announcement states.
The meeting is attended by the signatory states, including directors of regional institutions for civil aviation, along with representatives of the European Commission, led by the Director of Aviation of the EC Directorate General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), Filip Kornelis.
The director of ACV, Ivan Šćekić, advocated during the meeting with Kornelis, at the end of April in Paris, that Montenegro be the country where the meeting of the Joint Committee will be held.
Representatives of the Montenegrin Agency believe that this meeting will be an opportunity for the EC to be convinced of the commitment of the states to fulfill their obligations under the ECAA.
