Intensive work on increasing the number of tourist arrivals from priority emission markets, as well as improving the diversity of the offer, strengthening the brand and position on the domestic and international tourist market, will be activities in the coming period of the Tourist Organization (TO) Mojkovac, it is written in the work program submitted to the local parliament.
The most significant segment of the current tourist product of Mojkovac is concentrated in the manifestations that have a long tradition in that town. The aim of TO is to improve existing events of this type, primarily by extending their duration.
"The emphasis in 2024 will be on improving rural, active, recreational and adventure tourism. We will pay special attention to the use of the Tara River watercourse, and we will also emphasize the improvement of fly fishing, as an increasingly popular discipline that attracts a large number of foreigners and contributes to the valorization and improvement of the Ravnjak and Tara areas. Certainly, our trump cards will be the mountains of Bjelasica, Sinjajevina and Prošćenska planina, which we will promote and valorize as tourists in the coming period", the Program says.
Part of the income from the residence tax generated during this year will be directed to the valorization and support of projects in the field of culture, and the priority will be those that demonstrate the synergy of tourism and cultural heritage.
TO is planning to continue the development of the Tara coast, so that the area will be equipped and adapted for sports and recreational activities.
"It is necessary to decorate the swimming pool with all the missing furniture and bring it to its intended purpose. We recognized that space as adequate for use for tourist purposes, primarily for organizing events, which completes the contents of the tourist offer. Funds for the realization of this project will be provided by the Municipality in cooperation with the relevant institutions", announced the TO.
It is also planned that, in cooperation with the Municipality and the Ministry of Sports and Youth, they will build a training ground for throwing disciplines. Also, the plan is to build another tennis court. With the implementation of these projects, "Mojkovac gets a sports and recreational zone with various contents for both local residents and tourists". 'My guide Mojkovac' is a planned application, which will include all locations in the city. We are also planning to create "smart" promotional material. Work on positioning that city on the map of digital nomads and "energy tourists" is another of the planned activities.
"Digital nomads are people whose nature of work allows them to work from home, that is, from any point on the planet. Most digital nomads deal with modern IT jobs such as programming, graphic design, but also numerous branches of digital marketing. On the other hand, the term "energy tourists" refers to employees from Western European countries who are not strictly bound to work in the office, but their employers have given them the opportunity to spend the upcoming winter in another country, where the prices of energy and food are cheaper. We are of the opinion that the advantages of Mojkovac, in addition to its location, would be suitable prices for all the facilities that a digital nomad or energy tourist needs, first of all, a favorable price for renting accommodation", explained the Mojkovac TO.
Registration of guests, payment of residence tax and unregistered accommodation are topics that are current every tourist season in Mojkovac. Compared to previous years, according to the TO, progress has been made in the suppression of illegal accommodation and the collection of residence tax, which has reduced them.
"However, the problem of the gray area of business is still evident and we can solve it with a systemic approach. It can be reduced to a large extent by criminal policy, intensifying controls and raising awareness, with the taking of measures and actions, such as decisions on the prohibition of activities, the imposition of fines by misdemeanor order, the submission of requests to initiate misdemeanor proceedings, the control of the implemented measures", they recommend from THAT.
They also explain that it is necessary to legalize facilities that are not registered for catering services. From that TO, they also proposed a series of additional measures that they intend to use to suppress the gray economy.
