Encouraging regional and international cooperation contributes to the effective resolution of global challenges, said the Governor of the Central Bank (CBCG), Irena Radović, at a round table held as part of a high-level meeting in Ljubljana.

The CBCG announced that Radović participated in a high-level meeting in Ljubljana organized by the Center for Excellence in Finance (CEF), which Montenegro has recently chaired for a period of one year.

"As part of the meeting in Ljubljana, which brought together high-ranking officials from the region with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of finance and economy, a round table was held at which Radović spoke," the announcement says.

The round table, as the CBCG said, discussed the global context of the development of modern societies, which face the challenges of accelerated technological, climatic and demographic changes, as well as continuous economic uncertainty.

The participants of the round table concluded that in such an environment it is necessary for the institutions to preserve their independence and stability, as the main prerequisite for strengthening the economy.

"Radović pointed out that encouraging regional and international cooperation contributes to the effective resolution of global challenges," the announcement states.

She added that the priorities of the CBCG, along with the primary goal, are the preservation of financial stability, the development of institutional capacities, regulatory harmonization in the context of the negotiation process for membership in the European Union (EU), and the promotion and implementation of green finance.

"Among the other speakers at the round table were Klamen Boštjančić, Minister of Finance of Slovenia and President of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Marko Primorac, Minister of Finance of Croatia and Ahmet Ismaili, Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo," the statement added.

The CEF high-level meeting is said to also mark the start of the second phase of the WeLead project: the EU program for young professionals in the Western Balkans, funded by the European Commission and implemented by CEF.

The CBCG said that the goal of the project is to improve knowledge and experience in the EU accession process, which will strengthen regional cooperation and ensure faster progress of the Western Balkans towards the Union.

As they stated, during her stay in Ljubljana, Radović, in the context of Montenegro's presidency of an international institution based in Ljubljana, visited the CEF and had a separate meeting with the director, Jana Repanšek, where they discussed cooperation between the CBCG and CEF and plans for next period.

"On this occasion, the priorities during the Montenegrin presidency of the CEF and the possibilities of strengthening the contribution to the consolidation of the goals of the central banks of the member countries of the organization, which primarily relate to the further strengthening of institutions, the harmonization of regulations with the EU acquis and the introduction of green and digital components into the policies of central banks, were discussed ", says the statement.

It is stated that they also discussed the training offered by CEF in terms of improving the institutional capacities of central banks.

CEF is an international institution based in Ljubljana, which acts as a regional center for the exchange of knowledge and promotes the building and development of the capacities of public officials and institutions in Southeast Europe.
