The Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro (PKCG) will do everything within its competence to help the Port of Bar in overcoming the challenging situation, said the president of the PKCG, Nina Drakić, during a tour of the company.

PKCG announced that the delegation of the Chamber, headed by Drakić and Vice President Dragan Kujović, visited Luka Bar today and talked with the management about the damage caused to that company due to the weather that hit Montenegro on Tuesday.

"PKCG will do everything within its competence to help the company Luka Bar in overcoming this challenging situation", said Drakić.

She said that the most important thing was that there were no serious injuries to the employees.

"I believe that, as in many similar situations, we will, in solidarity, jointly find ways to repair the damage as soon as possible, and business processes will continue in the necessary capacity," said Drakić.

The port of Bar, as she stated, is a key link in the Montenegrin transport chain and one of the strategic economic entities, which a few days ago celebrated 118 years of existence and work and a successful business year of 2023.

Drakić said that, unfortunately, certain factors, such as natural disasters, cannot be influenced, nor can their destructive power be seen.

"Therefore, we hope that disasters of this scale will not happen again," said Drakić.

The announcement states that all three transshipment bridges, which have been in operation in the Port of Bar since 1977, collapsed due to hurricane force winds, and that the damage is being assessed.

The executive director of Luka Bar Ilija Pješčić said that they are very grateful for the visit of colleagues from PKCG, who provide them with selfless support.

"At this moment, we need all the help we can get. "We are in constant contact with the relevant ministry and the government, which will decide on the first set of aid once the damage assessment and assessment of the overall situation is completed," Pješčić said.

He added that they hope it will be in the next couple of days.

PKCG expressed its condolences to the families of employees of other companies, who died in Čanj and Tivat on Tuesday due to natural disasters.
