Dr. Dragan Lončar and Dr. Boban Melović, professors of the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade and Podgorica, were not dismissed, but retired from the Board of Directors of the Pljevlja Coal Mine (RUP), "Vijesti" has learned.
Last Friday, the assembly of shareholders of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, the owner of the coal mine, elected a new Board of Directors of RUP, which now consists of old members Milan Lekić and Dragan Leković, as well as Luka Ilinčić, Mladen Gogić and Vladislav Mićković.
Dr. Lončar and Dr. Melović were elected to the Board of Directors on March 29, 2024.
"Nothing sensational happened. I have certain formal restrictions due to membership in other management boards, and that's why I had to leave the Board of Directors of the Mine," said Dr. Lončar for "Vijesti" regarding some articles in some media about the changes in the Board of Directors of RUP.
And Dr. Boban Melović, not wanting to comment on the aforementioned allegations, said that he resigned from the Board of Directors of RUP on "personal initiative".
When asked to say whether politics still dominates energy sector companies, and whether and how much of a problem it creates when we talk about the future of these companies and their results, Minister Saša Mujović once answered in the affirmative.
"Politics still has an impact on the operations of companies in the energy sector and will continue to do so as long as even one member of the management is elected on a party basis. My goal as a minister is for the process of full professionalization to come to life as soon as possible, but the reality and inertia of the process indicate that the same cannot happen so quickly. "Many political subjects in the government means many demands, the struggle for the satisfaction of political aspirations and moving away from the principle of meritocracy," said Mujović.
So far, the Minister of Energy has not commented on the latest personnel changes in the Board of Directors of the Pljevlja Oil Mine.
