A large number of events, various possibilities for an active vacation, along with the effort invested in the preparation of the summer tourist season and solid promotion, are the reasons why Žabljak, Kolašin and Mojkovac expect to break records in the coming months when it comes to the number of guests.
Currently, the number of tourists is encouraging, and the pre-season was excellent, according to the tourist organizations of those municipalities. They are also counting on a good visit in the postseason.
After a winter without snow and millions of losses, summer could be a good satisfaction for the tourist economy in the north, tourism officials say.
According to the words Stojan Abazović, the director of Žabljačka TO, in May and June there were more guests in the town below Durmitor compared to the same period of the previous year.
In that tourist spot, the peak season traditionally starts around July 13, and the announcements are good, so Abazović is counting on records in the rest of the tourist summer. He reminds that the accommodation capacities have also been significantly increased in that municipality.
"Accommodation capacities are expanding, so it is difficult to reach maximum occupancy, but we hope for that as well. Hotel capacities are increasing, but, unfortunately, the number of illegal establishments is also increasing. However, it is encouraging that soon a tourist inspector will start working to control the collection of the tourist tax and the registration of accommodation", he says.
In Žabljak, traditionally, during the summer, foreign tourists dominate, so even now most of them are from Western Europe, but also from the surrounding area. A large number of tourists from Israel is noticeable, says Abazović, and more and more Poles are choosing to vacation in Žabljak.
The events will mark the Žabljak summer this year and, as TO expect, will be an interesting non-boarding event for guests.
"From the events I single out Durrador, Durmitor trail, Sky running, Crown of Montenegro, Sinjavinski marathon, Black lake extreme tiaxtlon, Highlander of Montenegro, basketball tournament and teqball tournament. Wild Beauty Art (WBA) festival and Green international film fest are also planned. TO is also planning two concerts. We also took care of the youngest, so I hope they will be satisfied with the facilities in Eko Smart Park", says Abazović for "Vijesti".
The camps improved the statistics in KOLAšin
Similar plans and optimism in Kolašin. The current occupancy of capacities and announcements, the director of TO tells "Vijesti". Zorica Milašinović, promise a successful tourist summer. From June 20, according to her, the number of tourists began to increase significantly. The Basketball Camp and the International Goalkeeper Camp contributed to the good statistics at the end of June.
"Judging by the announcements for the coming months, it will be a great season. Bookings are extremely good for both July and August and great interest for September. From 10-28. July is the Tango camp and, according to the organizers, the number of visitors will surpass all previous figures. The Bjelasica trail, for which there is great interest, and applications are coming in daily, will mark the beginning of August. From August 7 to 20 is the 10th International Festival of Alternative Theater Coryfej. Every weekend there will be concerts in the main street, during July and August," says Milašinović.
By rebalancing the budget, the Municipality allocated 70.000 euros for events this year. As they explained, the local self-government recognized the need for additional investment in tourism and the organization of events in order to better position the city on the map of attractive tourist destinations, especially during the summer tourist season.
In Mojkovac, the figures doubled
In Mojkovac, during the first half of this year, the number of guests doubled compared to the same period last year. As the director of the TO there told "Vijesti". Radonja Vuković, last year, from January to the beginning of July, there were 2.615 overnight stays and 614 guests registered, and this year 5.563 overnight stays and 1.316 guests.
"If you know the day by the morning, this season will be the best so far. The problem for us is the Mojkovac - Đurđevića Tara road, which is being reconstructed and is only open for two hours a day. Although, it is commendable that this year finally started with the permanent solution of that problem", assesses Vuković.
He reminds that rural tourism is extremely attractive in the area of that municipality and that Mojkovac has 40 registered rural households engaged in tourism and agriculture. This, he says, is a great chance for Mojkovac.
Vuković reminds that Mojkovac's summer tourist offer includes, among other things, rafting, kayaking, sport fishing, mountain biking, hiking, paragliding...
The most significant segment of the current tourist product of Mojkovac is concentrated in the manifestations that have a long tradition in that town. The goal of TO is to improve existing events of this type, primarily by extending their duration.
"The emphasis in 2024 will be on improving rural, active, recreational and adventure tourism. We will pay special attention to the use of the Tara River watercourse, and we will also emphasize the improvement of fly fishing, as an increasingly popular discipline that attracts a large number of foreigners and contributes to the valorization and improvement of the Ravnjak and Tara areas. Certainly, our trump cards will be the mountains of Bjelasica, Sinjajevina and Prošćenska planina, which we will promote and valorize as tourists in the coming period", says the TO work program for this year.
It is planned that part of the revenue from the residence tax generated during this year will be directed to the valorization and support of projects in the field of culture, and the priority will be those that demonstrate the synergy of tourism and cultural heritage.
