The prices of flour in most Montenegrin stores will be increased by about 15 percent in the coming days, while Serbia is expected to allow the export of edible sunflower oil next week, but with higher prices, so this basic food would also increase in price by 20 to 25 percent, "Vijesti" has learned.
The regulation limiting trading margins on basic food items flour, oil, sugar and salt expired on June 30, but most traders did not increase margins and prices then, but are doing so now.
By regulation, the margins for these four items were limited to five percent for wholesale stores and up to seven percent in retail stores. Traders are now returning the margins, so they will amount to at least ten percent for wholesale, and 15 percent for retail. This should cumulatively affect the final growth of retail prices by about 15 percent.
Oil producers in Serbia informed Montenegrin traders that the ban on oil exports will end at the end of next week, but that after that the purchase prices will be higher by about 20 percent.
Montenegro has not been able to import oil from Serbia since June 25, although no official decision has been made. The ban began to be applied after the speech of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, that he would "slightly stop the export of oil" due to the smaller harvest in Ukraine and until they analyze the global situation and their domestic oil needs.
The increase in oil prices in Montenegrin retail by about 25 percent would be due to the increase in purchase prices, but also the return of trade margins.
Due to the termination of the restrictions on trading margins, traders have already partially increased the prices of sugar and salt by about ten percent. The "Vijesti" source said that no further increase in the prices of these two foods is expected.
