Margins on basic food items will be limited to five percent in the wholesale trade and seven percent in the retail trade from Monday. The restriction will apply to wheat flour type 400 and 500, sugar crystals, sunflower oil and table salt.
This was confirmed to Vijesti by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Đeljošaj.
"Taking into account the announced price increases of basic foodstuffs in stores, and with the aim of protecting citizens' standards, during the weekend I will prepare a Decision on limiting margins and ask for an urgent, telephonic meeting of the Government on this occasion on Monday. The decision will cover basic foodstuffs, namely: wheat flour type - 400, wheat flour type - 500, crystal sugar, edible sunflower oil, salt for human consumption (kitchen salt 1 kg)," said Đeljošaj.
Đeljošaj said that the Government decided on this move because of the announced increase in the price of basic foodstuffs.
"Vijesti" announced on Friday, July 19 that the prices of flour in most Montenegrin stores will be increased by about 15 percent in the coming days, as well as that Serbia is expected to allow the export of edible sunflower oil next week, but with higher prices, so this basic food prices increased by 20 to 25 percent.
