MP of the Europe Now Movement (PES) Dražen Petrić said that, with the proposed set of reforms, the largest retail chains will have savings when it comes to labor costs and that the "Europe Now 2" program should not be an excuse for price increases.
"The most important legacy of political changes in Montenegro is the restoration of dignity to citizens through the Europe Now 1 and 2 programs. What was the legacy of the previous system are the deep roots of inequality in our society, blackmail and manipulation of low-income voters and privileges for the reborn political elite. The only thing citizens can blame the then Minister of Finance, and the current Prime Minister Spajić, is that he was determined to change the essence of the functioning of such a system. With higher salaries and pensions, no one will ever be able to blackmail citizens and put pressure on them to vote especially because of existential problems, he will not be able to get a vote from them for 50 euros," said Petrić.
He says that today's citizens can live with dignity with their incomes.
"It is true that we are also witnessing higher living costs, but in the last four years wages have grown at a higher rate than inflation, and no matter how much political competitors try to present it as a consequence of our program, it is inflation that is dominantly imported. We cannot influence on the prices of certain raw materials neither in the region nor in the world, as well as on disrupted supply chains due to current war actions in some parts of the planet.Also, with the proposed set of reforms, the largest trade chains will have savings when it comes to labor costs and our program must not to be an excuse for price increases," says the PES representative.
He said that those who "criticize the PES program" do not do so because they have their own, but because "they know that the success of our program is the success of our policy."
"At the end of the day, the economy is something that can be felt in everyday life, and the economic policy that is currently in place is superior to the competition. All other parties that criticize the PES program do not do so because they have their own, but because that they know that the success of our program is the success of our policy. The best indicator that our country's economy is going in the right direction is that we currently have 75 million more budget revenues compared to last year, and when the budget was adopted the opposition said that the budget was unsustainable and that the revenues are overestimated. But they are not important to us, the citizens have given us their trust and we will undoubtedly justify their trust," concluded Petrić.
