Member of Parliament from the list of the Movement Europe Now (PES) Seid Hadžić called for the cancellation of the public call for the use of forests for this year.
"After getting to know the conditions in more detail, I fully agree that the tender should be cancelled, and therefore I call on Minister Joković to explain to the public, take responsibility, and ultimately cancel the Public Invitation for the use of forests for this year with the Administration. I also clearly support the protest of wood processors that was announced because the existing tender definitely favors three, four big bidders, who according to the good previous plans will export everything for Kosovo and Albania," said Hadžić.
He added that until the end of the year, the old law on forests is applied and the concessions are valid until then, so it is possible to do everything again.
He also gave several clarifications of the new law on forests.
"If we look at the comparative analysis of the laws on forests in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia. Apart from Bosnia and Herzegovina, all of them have a system that is defined by the new law. The new law does not determine quotas, scoring, or prices, because only the Administration, the ministry will work on that. , the government and the management company. Forests in the zone of national parks and nature parks are managed by the companies that manage these protected areas. The price of timber that will be sold to wood processors is set by the law and establishes a new forest management company. The management will carry out monitoring, forest protection and inspection to control whether the remittance was made in accordance with the plan of the Administration," said Hadžić.
PES: Suspend the public call for forest use for this year
The Europe now movement appealed to the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management to suspend the public call for the use of forests for this year.
In PES, they claim that the public invitation is harmful in many ways for more than 50 wood processing companies from the north of Montenegro, in which more than 500 employees work.
The MP of PES, Milan Zečević, believes that the complaints of wood processors are justified, as well as the demands that were sent in an open letter to the prime minister, deputies and presidents of municipalities from the north.
"Also, before the new Law on Forests comes into force, which was voted in the Parliament and will completely solve these problems, I appeal to urgently create a new public invitation, with conditions acceptable to everyone, as requested in the open letter from the wood processor, and according to the model from previous years," Zečević said in the announcement.
According to him, the Europe Now movement is against any form of discrimination and the separation of business entities into small and large ones.
"Our position is that all business entities should have equal access to public goods, in this case forest resources, which is confirmed by the new legal solutions. The initiated reform in forestry has such access as a primary goal and ensures that all business entities have the opportunity to develop smoothly and under fair competitive conditions," concluded Zečević.
