Mojkovac has serious projects that recommend it as an important tourist destination in the future, said the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, and added that there are potentials that should be supported.
She met with the president of the Municipality of Mojkovac, Veska Delić, and learned about the plans of this city in the field of tourism promotion.
The Ministry announced that Mojkovac is preparing a multi-million dollar project - the construction of a replica of the medieval town of Brskov.
Brskovo, according to Kordić, marked the medieval history of Montenegro and laid the foundation for the development of the state of that era.
"Here will be a replica of a medieval fortress with a small museum inside it and faithful copies of the houses that existed in Brskov, but which will be equipped with modern facilities, so that tourists can stay in them later," said Kordić, who was staying officially in Mojkovac with collaborators.
She assessed that the development of tourist facilities is very important for the municipality, which was going through difficult economic periods.
"But, obviously, there are potentials that should be supported and we should not let go of any jewel that we have in Montenegro," said Kordić.
The President of the Municipality of Mojkovac, Vesko Delić, said that the idea to save Brskovo from oblivion by building a medieval replica came from local wisdom and local self-government.
He explained that the Brskovo tourist attraction will be located not far from the center of Mojkovac, in the town of Šuškovina.
"The project is worth several million euros and we will definitely need the support of the state. That's why I say that we are very glad that the Minister of Tourism is visiting Mojkovac, who understands the importance of this project and who will be our right hand in this," said Delić.
At the meeting with Kordić, other important plans for the development of the north were also discussed, such as the Žarski ski resort. Delić reminded that a lot has already been done on that project.
"A lot of state money was invested in that project, and 70 percent of the project has been completed. The road infrastructure at the ski resort has not been completed, as well as an important segment of that road, which is the bridge on Tara, which will connect the Mojkovac-Kolašin main road with the future ski resort "We talked about all the potential of the municipality, about the three mountains on which Mojkovac is located, about the river Tara, which is an inexhaustible gem, as well as about many ongoing projects," said Delić.
He reminded that Mojkovac was created and was an industrial town, but its development has changed in the last 30 years or so. Now in Mojkovac, as Delic said, they are dedicated to agriculture and tourism development.
As announced, the Ministry is aware that Mojkovac has tourist potential.
"Mojkovac was not typically recognized as a tourist town in Montenegro, but we actually see that there are serious projects that highly recommend it as one of the important future tourist destinations in Montenegro. First of all, I would mention the Žarski ski resort and the Tara bridge, which is a priority project, so that this ski resort could function and so that our guests and tourists could comfortably come and use these facilities", stated Kordić.
The management of Mojkovac is grateful for her visit.
"An important day for the Municipality and for me, because we talked about the many potentials of Mojkovac, when it comes to tourism", Delić concluded.
