In the period from May 1 to August 11, tax inspectors performed 2,57 thousand regularity checks of taxpayers' operations and found irregularities in 376 of them.
"On that basis, 507 misdemeanor orders were issued with fines of 1,7 million euros," the PU announced.
Debt due to imposed fines amounts to 957,28 thousand euros, of which 795,33 thousand euros, or 83 percent, have been collected.
"Collection based on fines refers to taxpayers who accepted misdemeanor responsibility and paid the imposed fines within eight days (reduced by a third according to the Law on Misdemeanors)," said the PU.
In the reporting period, 26 taxpayers were ordered to temporarily ban their activities, which is nine taxpayers more than the week before.
These are taxpayers who have already been inspected and found to have committed an offense in the previous period.
"Taxpayers who have been found to have committed an offense for the first time during the inspection process, for which, according to the Law on Tax Administration, a ban on the performance of activities is ordered, a prohibition measure for a duration of up to seven days is imposed, for a repeated offense a ban on the performance of activities is imposed for a duration of up to 15 day", explained the PU.
PU appealed to taxpayers to comply with regulations and provide accurate data on realized income.
Citizens can report all irregularities by calling the Call Center number 19707, or via the Be Responsible platform.
