The EPCG-Zeljezare Nikšić trade union reacted to the announcement of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore that part of the workers physically prevented the international delegation that came to "visit the factory complex in order to draw up plans for future investments that are necessary for the start of production".
"This is a trade union organization that knows the basic institutes of labor law and the legal rights of employees, and that is exactly why we asked for a conversation with the management of our factory over the past 20 days. That is why today the workers gathered on their own initiative and demanded that the executive director address them and inform them of the details of the signed contract. We did not know that any investor had come, and no one prevented anyone from entering the factory, nor will they ever. And that's why we ask you not to manipulate the public. Whoever and whenever they want can come to Željezar. We asked you to announce only what you announced to the public and nothing more. We tried to get it from our administration and failed, but we are glad that the whole of Montenegro heard. The workers are only interested in our status and that the signed acts are respected and nothing more. We want to work and support our families from that work. We are not interested in anything else. Follow what you wrote and you won't have any problems with the workers or the union. You don't have any obstructions, and you won't have any. We just want to not stay on the street, as we have always done before. That is the only fear of these people, nothing more. You have support and you will always have it when it is in the interest of the workers, even though sometimes we have different opinions. But we sincerely hope that our goal is the same, and that is to keep this factory working and nothing more," reads the press release of the EPCG Željezara Nikšić Trade Union.
