Territorial closeness and good cooperation between the connecting markets of Montenegro and Serbia point to further modalities of joint cooperation, through joint projects, announced the Minister of Transport, Maja Vukićević, in her first official visit to Serbia.
Vukićević and the Deputy Prime Minister, Milun Zogović and their associates, are on their first official visit to Serbia, at the invitation of the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Government of Serbia, Goran Vesić.
Vukićević thanked for such an organization and quick reaction to welcome the Montenegrin delegation to Belgrade after Vesić's recent visit to Bijela Polje.
"Certainly, the territorial proximity, but also the long-standing good cooperation of the connective markets, point us to further modalities of joint cooperation, through joint projects, in the first place: the highway project, as the most important project in the modern history of both countries, the reconstruction project of the Belgrade- At least, cooperation on projects in the field of aviation, and mechanisms for overcoming the current problems in SMATSA, caused by the fact that SMATSA has been on a temporary financing regime for eight months because the Government of Serbia has not approved the Financial Plan, nor the Business Plan of SMATSA for the period from now until 2028, the debt of the former national air carrier, Montenegro Airlines, according to SMATSA, and many others," said Vukićević.
She stated that the initiative to establish joint commissions and coordination bodies, for the purpose of easier and more efficient action in the direction of obtaining financial support for the realization of key infrastructure projects, meets with full agreement from the Montenegrin side.
"Also, as you announced, he is pleased that there is a possibility of writing off the interest on Montecargo's debt," Vukićević said, adding that a solution to the problem of Montecargo's debt to Serbian Railways will be found.
Vesić expressed his satisfaction that they quickly responded to his invitation and visited the Government of Serbia.
"Joint action in the direction of all the open projects that you mentioned, first of all the highway projects, as the most important project of the two countries, the reconstruction project of the Belgrade-Bar railway, and all other development projects, which we discussed today, and the announced cooperation of our administrations in terms of attracting financial support from the European Commission in the direction of a more successful implementation of the same, along with developing good-neighborly relations with friendly Crna Grora, they are our highest priority," said Vesić.
Vukićević and Vesić signed a joint letter to the European Commission on the importance of the Belgrade-Bar railway, and on the importance of continuing and supporting the investment cycle aimed at modernizing the railway infrastructure in the territory of the signatory states.
On the first day of the official visit, Zogović, Vukićević and Vesić laid wreaths at the monument of the famous Montenegrin hero, serdar Janko Vukotić. This is the first time that a delegation from Montenegro has officially visited the monument of Serdar Vukotić.
After laying the wreaths, the representatives of the two delegations held a bilateral meeting in the Palace of Serbia.
"I am happy that the first official visit, since the moment of my appointment and the appointment of Vukićević, is a visit to Belgrade. Good-neighborly ties of close people, and joint work on many open issues, will only further strengthen economic and friendly ties. I hope that after tense moments in mutual relations between the states of Montenegro and Serbia, we are now reaching an environment where the relations between our two brotherly states will return to their natural framework, in accordance with what is our historical, spiritual and cultural heritage," said Zogović, on the eve of the opening of the bilateral meeting .
The meetings were attended by Chargé d'Affaires, Stanica Popović, in front of the Embassy of Montenegro in Belgrade.
