Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević, Deputy Prime Minister Milun Zogović and leader of the Democratic People's Party Milan Knežević spoke today with the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and ministers in the Government of Serbia about the reconstruction of the Belgrade - Bar railway, as well as the formation of a joint commission for the construction of the E-763 highway that will connect Belgrade with the South Adriatic.
Speaking about the Belgrade - Bar railway, Vučić wrote on Instagram that it is a project of significant interest, and that the reconstruction will be financed by the European Union.
Earlier today, the two countries signed a joint letter to the European Commission, in which they requested money from the additional EU fund for the development of the Western Balkans, in order to reconstruct that railway.
When it comes to the E-763 highway, Vučić stated that the joint commission should work with the aim of concretizing the steps on that project, calling it "one of the most extensive, difficult and complex construction undertakings".
"This project represents one of the strongest backbones in regional connectivity, and its implementation will give a powerful impetus to the development of not only economy, tourism, trade, infrastructure, but also to the strengthening of relations between Serbia and Montenegro, as well as all our neighbors whose citizens will also have a huge benefit," added the President of Serbia.
The topic of the conversation, as added on Instagram, was the implementation of an integrated crossing on the existing road in order to facilitate road and freight traffic, as was already done at the Bijelo Polje station when it comes to rail traffic.
"That's why we are working rapidly, so that these almost unreal visions and dreams of many generations come true as soon as possible," he added.
In addition to Zogović, Vukićević, Knežević and Vučić, the Minister of Construction of Serbia Goran Vesić, General Director of Railway Infrastructure of Serbia Jelena Tanasković, Director of Roads of Serbia Zoran Drobnjak, Director of the Corridor of Serbia Aleksandar Antić were also present at the meeting.
They talked with Brnabić about improving regional cooperation
The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, met today with Zogović and Vukićević, who pointed out that cooperation with Serbia is extremely important for Montenegro and that they will try to improve relations between the two countries in the coming years.
Brnabić agreed and pointed out that Serbia attaches great importance to regional cooperation and that a developed and connected region means a better life for all its citizens. She said that parliamentary diplomacy is one of her priorities, and that she will try to establish closer cooperation with the Parliament of Montenegro.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Transport of Montenegro pointed out that the most important infrastructure projects for their country are the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Bar railway and the construction of a highway that would connect the Montenegrin coast and Podgorica with Belgrade in the future.
Earlier in the day, Zogović and Vukićević met with the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić.
