From May 1 to August 28, tax inspectors performed 3,17 thousand regularity checks of taxpayers' operations and found irregularities in 453 of them.

"On that basis, 617 misdemeanor orders were issued with fines totaling 2,07 million euros. Debt due to imposed fines amounts to EUR 1,49 million, of which EUR 1,07 million, or 72 percent, has been collected," the Tax Administration said in a statement.

Collection based on fines refers to taxpayers who have accepted misdemeanor responsibility and paid the imposed fines within eight days (reduced by a third according to the Law on Misdemeanors).

In the mentioned reporting period, 32 taxpayers were subject to temporary bans on activities.

Based on the inspections carried out during the summer tourist season, the highest number of irregularities was found among taxpayers who carry out activities in the territory of the Municipality of Ulcinj, while the best tax discipline is in Tivat.

In the reporting period, 822 tax audits were carried out in Ulcinj, and irregularities were found in 184 taxpayers. For established irregularities, 229 misdemeanor orders were issued with a total of fines in the amount of 688,4 thousand euros.

"Thanks to the proactive action of the tax inspectors, we emphasize that significantly better results were achieved during the summer tourist season compared to last year," said the PU.

815 or 20 percent fewer partial controls were carried out, 114 or 34 percent more taxpayers were fined, 177 or 40 percent more misdemeanor warrants were issued, 674,9 thousand euros or 48 percent more fines were issued.

"Also, EUR 450 or 43 percent more debt was incurred based on the imposed fines, of which EUR 344,13 or 48 percent more fines were collected compared to the same period of the previous year, and 14 or 78 percent more temporary ban measures were issued performance of activities", specified from PU.

PU, according to its representatives, uses all available capacities for the implementation of inspection procedures, so that all taxpayers are included, especially those who fall into the high-risk category in terms of compliance with tax regulations.

In accordance with the planned activities to suppress the gray economy, PU continuously monitors the regularity of taxpayers' operations, both by controlling the taxpayers' comprehensive bookkeeping and by checking certain aspects of their operations.

Controls were intensified in the area of ​​general tax registration, submission of tax returns, recording of traffic control, market payments, reporting of workers on the entire territory of Montenegro.
