On the occasion of increasingly frequent announcements that a company will soon be formed that will manage the "Bajo Sekulić" salt pan in Ulcinj, former employees of that company said that they will not stand by and calmly watch the start of the work of a new company.
They wonder what happens to the real owner of the company's assets, which is in bankruptcy, and who will pay them about a million euros in debt on account of unpaid wages and connect five years of service.
Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Ćulafić, during a working visit to Ulcinj on August 23 and after visiting Solana, he said that the issue of solving the problem in the formation of an adequate management structure for that protected area in the coming period will be in the place of priority activities of the ministry.
And the president of the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly (SO). Ivana Popović, in a recent interview for "Vijesti", stated that SO will actively work and provide support for the formation of a company that will manage the "Bajo Sekulić" Saltworks as soon as possible, in order to start the redevelopment of that company from a standstill.
"Due to the announcement that the Government and the Municipality of Ulcinj will very soon complete the necessary procedures related to the formation of a new manager-enterprise, which will manage the resources of the Ulcinj Saltworks and work to create conditions for the production of sea salt while ensuring biodiversity, we former workers ask what about enterprise, firm or company, which is the owner of 15 million square meters, the real owner of Solan "Bajo Sekulić" in bankruptcy Ulcinj", asked in the letter of former employees submitted to "Vijesti".
In the letter, which he signs on behalf of the worker Sasa Mitrovic, it is reminded that Solana has existed since 1933 and that it collected salt for 83 years, even during the war.
Since 2005, she was in programmed, and since 2011, in classic bankruptcy.
"Salana workers were first robbed, and then thrown out into the street. They are owed about one million euros for unpaid wages and 5 years of service. Solana still owes 1,5 million euros to suppliers and about 2 million euros to the state, a good part of which is taxes and contributions for employees. Will this issue be resolved? From now on, we will not stand quietly on the sidelines and watch the start of the work of some new company", said the former workers.
They state that it all resembles the principle of work of newly minted businessmen in Montenegro - they establish a company, work, incur debt, defraud workers, shut down that company or leave it in bankruptcy, found a new one and start all over again.
"We have been drawing attention to our problem for a long time, especially now that it is certain that Chapter 27 will not be closed without solving the problem of Saltworks. Until now, we have calmly followed the events surrounding the Solana because it was in our interest that the Solana function as much as possible, at least for the protection of biodiversity. But now the end has come, that's why we once again ask the competent institutions - the Commercial Court, the Government and the Municipality of Ulcinj to deal with this problem", the letter reads.
