Young people are the bearers of the future of tourism, and their energy and creativity can improve the tourist offer and promote peace through the exchange of cultures, said Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić.
The Ministry of Tourism announced that Kordić held a public class at the School for Secondary and Higher Vocational Education "Sergije Stanić", which reportedly started a series of activities organized by the Ministry to meet the World Tourism Day on September 27, which under the slogan "Tourism and Peace".
"On that occasion, tablet computers were donated to the students, so that, through equal access to education and technology, they would contribute to the development of smart and sustainable tourism," the announcement reads.
The Ministry of Tourism stated that Kordić, opening the public class, emphasized the key role of tourism as a bridge between different cultures and peoples, emphasizing its power to encourage understanding and contribute to building peace.
"In her speech, she pointed out the economic importance of tourism, with a special focus on sustainable tourism, which protects natural and cultural resources," the announcement reads.
The students were also addressed by Miodrag Bešović, director general of the Directorate for Emergency Situations and Rescue, who spoke on the topic of destination safety.
Bešović underlined the importance of proper preparation and coordination, so that tourists and the local population are protected in crisis situations.
The director of the school, Miomir Đurišić, reminded of the importance of cooperation between the line ministry and JU "Sergije Stanić", which was formalized through a contract signed in May of this year.
The Ministry of Tourism announced that the public hour, attended by state secretaries Vuk Žižić and Petar Drašković, is the first in a series of events to mark World Tourism Day, and subsequent activities include workshops, debates and cultural events under the theme "Tourism as initiator of peace and cooperation".
