In August, there were 237,9 thousand tourists in collective accommodation (hotels, motels...) who spent 1,08 million overnight stays, according to the data published yesterday by the Monstat Statistical Office.
Compared to the same month last year, there were fewer tourists by almost three thousand, while the number of overnight stays increased by less than a thousand. Compared to August 2019, there are now 17 thousand more tourists and 38 thousand more overnight stays.
The most guests this year in August rested in Budva hotels, 88 thousand, which is four thousand less than last year. They achieved 473 thousand overnight stays this year, which is also a drop of three thousand.
After the capital of tourism, the number of hotel guests in Herceg Novi in August this year was 27,5 thousand, while last year there were two thousand more. The number of overnight stays this year was 166 thousand, which is about five thousand less than last year.
Compared to August last year, the bar had an increase in the number of guests in collective accommodation by about one and a half thousand to 25,4 thousand, while their number of overnight stays increased from 136 to 139 thousand.
Most foreign tourists in hotels were from Serbia, 43 thousand or 19,6 percent of the total number. They achieved 260 thousand overnight stays or 25,8 percent of the total number of overnight stays, which is almost at the same level as the year before.
The second largest number were guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, 15,2 thousand or seven percent of the total number of them stayed in this month and in the form of accommodation, and they achieved 80 thousand overnight stays or eight percent. Compared to August last year, the number of tourists from this neighboring country was less by about one thousand, and the number of their overnight stays by seven thousand.
In third place were guests from Great Britain, 12 of whom came and spent 60 nights. They accounted for 5,5 percent of the total number of tourists, as well as six percent of the number of overnight stays. Compared to last year, the number of guests from this country increased by a third or three thousand, and their number of overnight stays increased by 16 thousand.
The number of guests from France fell by a quarter or two and a half thousand to 11 thousand, while their number of overnight stays decreased from 60 to 53 thousand.
From Russia, once the most important market outside the region, only 6,3 thousand hotel guests arrived in August, or 2,9 percent of the total number, who made 31 thousand overnight stays.
In the same month of 2019, the number of tourists from this country was almost four times higher and amounted to 23,3 thousand, that is, they made up 11,4 percent of the total number of guests. At that time, they achieved 163 thousand overnight stays or 17 percent of the total number, which is five and a half times more than now.
