In August, there were 237,9 thousand tourists in collective accommodation (hotels, motels...) who spent 1,08 million overnight stays, according to the data published yesterday by the Monstat Statistical Office.

Compared to the same month last year, there were fewer tourists by almost three thousand, while the number of overnight stays increased by less than a thousand. Compared to August 2019, there are now 17 thousand more tourists and 38 thousand more overnight stays.

They accounted for 5,5 percent of the total number of tourists, as well as six percent of the number of overnight stays. Compared to last year, the number of guests from this country increased by a third or three thousand, and their number of overnight stays increased by 16 thousand.

The number of guests from France fell by a quarter or two and a half thousand to 11 thousand, while their number of overnight stays decreased from 60 to 53 thousand.

From Russia, once the most important market outside the region, only 6,3 thousand hotel guests arrived in August, or 2,9 percent of the total number, who made 31 thousand overnight stays.

In the same month of 2019, the number of tourists from this country was almost four times higher and amounted to 23,3 thousand, that is, they made up 11,4 percent of the total number of guests.
