The president of the municipal committee of the Civic Movement URA Budva asked the Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj, what about the "harmful contract" for Sveti Stefan, which he promised to terminate due to the tenant's breach of contractual obligations.
"If you don't know the answer, I believe that Prime Minister Spajić has the answer, given that he met with both Pua and Statis in Maestral, so it would be his turn to inform us of what the deal is," said Radjenović.
He recalls that on January 15, 2007, the Government of Montenegro concluded a 30-year lease agreement for the "Sveti Stefan" hotel, the "Miločer" villa and the "Kraljičina plaža" hotel. According to the contract at the time, the annual rent of 1,6 million euros was guaranteed, but the contract stipulated that the rent could be revised every third year. The lessee undertook to keep the hotels open for at least 11 months a year, but also to invest 50 million euros in the reconstruction of "Sveti Stefan".
"That harmful contract became even more harmful on June 31, 2015, that is, on December 29, in the Parliament of Montenegro, and with the shameful decision of the then ruling DPS group and their partners, the lease was extended from 30 to 42 years, that is, until 2049, when regarding the Sveti Stefan and Miločer hotels, the lessee is now obliged to keep the hotel open for at least 11 months a year instead of the previous 8 months, and the rent has been reduced by 30 percent, from the previous 1,6 million euros to 1,1 million euros per year. While the annex for Kraljičina plaža has extended the lease from 30 to 90 years, and it is planned that 126 of the 66 apartments will be sold, and the rest will be used for hotel purposes," Rađenović points out.
He adds that all this was not enough, so they tried to carry out the final cupping of St. Stephen on February 1, 2020, when the shares, as he says, of our priceless treasure of St. Stephen, were on the stock market. This was thwarted by the quick reaction of the then domiciled citizens and the sale of shares was withdrawn from the stock exchange.
"All this was continuously done strategically to the detriment of the citizens of Budva and Montenegro. For years we were forbidden to walk on public paths along the sea, to use access to the sea, our sports courts for tennis were destroyed and a wild a temporary facility of over 2000 square meters. Every year there were regular incidents with security workers because they did not allow citizens to swim in the sea or use public roads, paths and beaches. They tried to alienate Sveti Stefan from the citizens whose ancestors had built it Although year after year citizens from the territory of the local community of Sveti Stefan suffer incalculable and material damage, even though the existence and survival of their families is called into question, one thing is for sure that Sveti Stefan will once again be a city with open doors and a shed, that the harmful contract be terminated, and Sveti Stefan be returned to state ownership. A message for this anti-citizen Government, Minister Đeljošaj and especially Prime Minister Spajić, we are not interested in your actions to the detriment of the citizens of Budva and Montenegro. to answer our letters and solve the problem of Sveti Stefan, don't worry, we will come in front of the Government soon and we will open Sveti Stefan," Rađenović concluded.
