Ulcinj will soon receive a new loan from KfW Bank of 6,36 million euros, of which XNUMX million is a government grant, for the construction of secondary and tertiary water supply networks in the municipality.
Secretary for Investments in the Municipality of Ulcinj Minir Karamanaga he said that these are additional funds from KfW Bank to the already existing loan of 20 million euros for the water supply and waste water drainage project, the implementation of which is nearing completion.
"Additional funds will be used for secondary and tertiary water supply networks in the municipality," Karamanaga told "Vijesta".
He stated that work is currently being carried out on reservoirs, break chambers and transition pipelines.
"After signing the contract with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North and Vodacom doo on the transfer of credit funds in the amount of 6,3 million euros, one million of which is a grant from the Government, the signing of the annex to the basic contract with the contractor is expected" Unity". The annex will include the construction of the secondary and tertiary network, where we specifically single out settlements in the city core Pristan, Liman, Meterize, Nova Mahala, Meraja, Totoši, as well as in the Štoj settlement," said Karamanaga.
The project should improve the functionality and sustainability of the Ulcinj water supply system, minimize losses on the water supply network and achieve more efficient control of water consumption by installing new water meters.
The Government clarified that providing additional funds will ensure the achievement of the project's main goals - provision and improvement of the water supply and sewerage infrastructure, which will have a positive impact on the development of tourism.
"The team will directly contribute to the economic development of the wider project area and contribute to the improvement and sustainable protection of the environment and water resources in the coastal area of Montenegro. According to the draft Forwarding Agreement, the Ministry of Finance will transfer loan funds to the Municipality of Ulcinj under the same conditions defined by the Loan Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and KfW, for phase V," the information reads.
It is added "that, taking into account the importance of the infrastructure project, as well as the current indebtedness of the Municipality, a grace period of ten years was approved, in order to avoid overlapping loans and ensure the financial stability of the Municipality's budget, and in accordance with the conclusions of the Government."
"The municipality of Ulcinj will repay its obligations to the Ministry of Finance over 20 years, including a 10-year grace period, with the final repayment deadline on December 30, 2043, at a fixed interest rate of 1,80% per year," the information stated.
