Citizens and the economy owe the municipality of Pljevlja about nine and a half million euros in real estate taxes.

About five million is claimed from citizens, and four million from legal entities, of which "Vektra Jakić" participates in these debts with two thirds.

"We realized that the problem is tax collection from natural persons and we are working very intensively to update our taxpayer base. We have an unupdated, i.e., to a certain percentage, inaccurate tax database that we inherited from the state Tax Administration in 2002, and that database was then filled based on data collected by inspectors in the field. After that, a piece of software was developed that was not compatible with software from the cadastre, so we could not automatically take over the database from the cadastre where all taxpayers would be included," said the director of the Local Public Revenue Administration. Vladimir Džuverović.

He said that the plan is to launch a new tax software from January 1, 2025, so that they have a complete and accurate database.

Džuverović expects that in the coming period, he will reduce claims based on real estate tax to a reasonable measure.

"The law on tax administration allows the administration of local public revenues to write off claims older than ten years," Džuverović said.

He said that the Municipality will have to rebalance the budget very soon due to the increase in income.

"Until September 30, the budget was realized in the amount of 29.196.000 euros, which is at the level of realization from the previous year. Given that we have one more quarter left and based on our projections, we will certainly earn another five million and 700.000 euros. It is realistic that we expect that the realization of the budget this year will be a record and will be realized in the amount of 34.845.000 euros", said Džuverović.
