Transport Minister Maja Vukićević said that eight companies from China, Turkey and Azerbaijan applied for the tender for the construction of the second section of the highway, including the Chinese company CRBC, which built the first section.

He points out that four companies are in the inner circle for the construction of the highway.

"The tender is carried out according to the rules of the EBRD, who will finance the project and who will be chosen depends on the tender conditions", said Vukićević, explaining that part of the money was provided by a loan from the EU and the budget.

According to RTV Podgorica, she said that "in terms of percentage, it is possible that the right to build the second section of the highway will be given to the Chinese CRBC" and emphasized that the choice of the contractor depends on the tender conditions.

She noted that the state-owned company Monteput announced a tender for a contractor before her election as Minister of Transport.

"The company CCC, the umbrella company or as they call it, the mother company of CRBS, applied for the tender, but who will be selected in the tender depends on whether they have met the conditions," said Vukićević.

He expects that the construction of the second section of the Bar - Boljara highway will continue next year and that all work will be completed within the stipulated time.

Vukićević confirmed that the planned deadline for the construction of the highway to the border with Serbia is 2030, but noted that the problem with deadlines is that some unforeseen jobs can always appear.

"In any case, we will contract the contractor to complete the work in five years, and they will be obliged to complete the second part within that period," explained the minister.
